Kari Swartz Dilloo ‘97

 

Kari Swartz Dilloo is a fifth generation Montanan, raised in Fairfield, Montana. She graduated from the University of Montana with a marketing degree and communications minor in 1997. Kari has since built her career in Seattle, working in marketing communications for Xbox, Expedia, Redfin and L’Oreal; and category management at Microsoft for the Xbox and Office & Microsoft 365 businesses.

Kari is currently the North America Category Lead for the Office & Microsoft 365 business on the Consumer Channel Sales & Marketing (CCSM) team at Microsoft. She is responsible for the business strategy and revenue accountability of the North America business, in addition to distribution, promotions and go-to-market strategy.

Throughout her career, Kari also amassed expertise in key facets of marketing communications including brand and integrated marketing strategy and planning, experiential marketing, influencer marketing, social media, media relations, crisis planning, corporate and industry PR, consumer PR, executive communications, internal communications, and serving as a spokesperson with national and local media.  

Kari has also dedicated substantial time to giving back to the University of Montana, including being a founding board member of the UM College of Business Marketing Advisory Board, a member of the Dean’s Business Advisory Council, a frequent guest speaker, and student mentor. Kari co-created an experiential learning program that ran for six years in the College of Business, uniting UM marketing and management students with alumni at Microsoft, Nike, R2C and other businesses in Seattle and Portland. Students gained insight, advice and made connections that led to careers following graduation. She currently serves on the board of the Seattle Chapter for the UM Alumni Association. Kari and her extended family also created the Kole Swartz Legacy Scholarship within UM Athletics in remembrance of her nephew.

Kari lives in Bothell, Washington with her husband, Ken, their 12-year-old twins, Luci and Mason, and their spoiled dachshund, Leon.
