Professional Experience

Garrett Finke began working at the University of Montana College of Business as the Director of Marketing and Communications in 2019.

Prior to UM, Finke worked at Western Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado for seven years. There, he was the primary contact for all 13 Western Colorado sports. Finke's duties included the compilation, organization and reporting of all statistics, news and information to appropriate media outlets. He also developed, wrote and assisted in the designing of all publications and promotional materials in the athletic department. Finke also served as the Western Athletics brand manager and social media coordinator.

During the 2015-16 year, Finke served as Tournament Director and Media Coordinator for the NCAA Division II Region IV Wrestling Championships, held in Gunnison, Colorado at the Mountaineer Field House.

Finke helped successfully publicize and promote 17 CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, which accounted for nearly half of all Academic All-America selections in Western Colorado's history at the time.

Finke arrived at Western after spending 2011 working in the sports information department at Colorado State University-Pueblo. Along with many other duties, Finke assisted in the content and design of media guides, game notes and game programs for various sports at CSU-Pueblo. He also assisted at the 2012 NCAA Division II National Wrestling Tournament and managed field events at the 2012 NCAA Division II National Track and Field Championships.

From 2006 to 2010 Finke was a student intern at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. There, he was the head student contact for women's water polo, women's basketball and men's basketball. As an intern, Finke assisted in gameday operations as well as the day to day operations of those sports.

Finke has also done sports information work for USA Basketball, the Fort Collins Foxes Baseball Club, the Mountain West Conference Basketball Tournament, and the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament.
