Crawford, Retired Senior Partner from the Executive Offices National Office of KPMG New York, Returns to His Roots
Craig Crawford, (Accounting ’79) joined SoBA this spring to teach accounting and auditing. Crawford has created quite a buzz among accounting students who understand how fortunate they are to be able to take a class from someone with such an impressive professional record. Craig Crawford brings to the classroom extensive hands on experience both in auditing and in shaping U.S. and International auditing standards.
In his corporate career, Craig Crawford most recently served as national partner in charge of audit quality and partner in charge of the audit group in KPMG’s National Office in New York, interpreting and implementing auditing standards in the U.S. and abroad. Crawford also has extensive experience in setting auditing standards through his participation on U.S. and international standard-setting bodies.
Craig Crawford has been involved with UM for a number of years. He received the SoBA Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2007, and he served on the Dean’s Business Advisory Council 2003-2006, the UM Alumni Association Board of Directors and the UM Foundation Board of Trustees.
When asked his opinion about his current teaching experience, Crawford replied, "I really like it. But it sure is hard work.” Craig Crawford obviously has learned in a few short weeks what most excellent instructors quickly learn: It takes a great deal of time and effort to make classes relevant to today’s college students. Craig Crawford has approached the challenge of teaching with a great deal of commitment and enthusiasm. He can be found most days working in his office with his door open, greeting each student and visitor who drops by with a big smile and an invitation to sit down.
Yes, SoBA is indeed fortunate to have Craig Crawford as a member of the SoBA teaching faculty.
