Pre-seminar assignments:

  • There are no pre-course readings for this seminar

  • Student must electronically submit the following by February 6, 2007:

    • Undergraduate students: An electronic copy in PDF format of your business plan (including all appendices, financials, etc.) from MGMT348

    • MBA students: An electronic copy in PDF format of your business plan Expanded Executive Summary or Business Plan as it currently stands (including all appendices, financials, etc.) from MBA694 Entrepreneurship I and II

 

Friday, February 9, 2007

6-8pm              Dr. Shay will meet with Guest Mentors to discuss the plans and the format for

the weekend

 

Saturday, February 10, 2007

8-Noon            Teams provide 10-15 minute business plan presentation to Mentors

                        Mentors take notes on the presentations and business ideas

 

Noon-1pm       Lunch

 

1-5:30pm         Paired teams meet with assigned Mentors and engage in a feedback

session on the business plan and presentation

 

Night                Teams revise and practice their business plan presentations. This is required for
                        all students so you need to plan accordingly.  You should plan on meeting with

your team for at least 3-4 hours.

11-Noon          Course review and set objectives for next stage

Seminar III: Mentor Profiles

Name: Anne Iverson

Business Notes

Anne is the Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Montana Community Development Corporation. The SBDC, an SBA-sponsored program, guides small businesses to success by offering the business counseling and training they need to thrive. Anne joined MCDC in fall of 2004. Before that she worked as the store manager of a busy specialty retail outlet, as the chairperson of a citizen’s group actively involved in the award of the multi-million-dollar Yosemite concessions contract, and as the marketing and publicity director for an outdoor book publisher. At the SBDC, Anne works with small businesses every day helping them with business plans, financial projections, and solving a variety of problems.

Business Notes

Jonas LaRance provides clients two brains for the price of one by combining analytical business and creative design skills to strategically define problems, solve communication needs and generate value for businesses.  Jonas attended The University of Montana and studied Industrial and Product Design at the Art Institute of Seattle.  His early career experience includes work in high-end sales, account management and marketing in Los Angeles.  In 2001, Jonas accepted an assistantship at The University of Montana School of Business Administration, where he completed his MBA emphasizing entrepreneurship and marketing.  As a freelance consultant, Jonas specializes in devising solutions to difficult problems and creating an integrated, consistent customer experience for a wide variety of for- and non-profit enterprises.  One of his many current projects involves helping manage the multi-channel integration of e-commerce, retail, catalog and other direct marketing components for Montana’s largest retailer.  Jonas is honored by the opportunity to take part in this year’s John Ruffatto Business Plan Competition.
