The spring seminars are organized around three separate topics: Managing and Marketing a New Venture, High-technology Start-ups and Legal Issues for Entrepreneurs, and Financing New Ventures. The seminars provide the opportunity for SoBA students to engage in face-to-face discussions with successful entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs Honored October 4-6, 2007
The University of Montana, the School of Business Administration, and the Montana Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs held their third annual Lewis & Clark Pioneer in Industry Awards on October 4, 2007.  The recipients were Stuart Evey, Founder of ESPN, and Warren Miller, Founder of Warren Miller Entertainment.   Stuart Evey was born in Havre, Montana and went on to work for the Getty family. It was there that he was approached by a small cable network asking for financial support.  Evey convinced Getty to invest and took over responsibility for running the small start up.  The rest, they say, is history.  Warren Miller started making ski films in the 1940s and continues to do so today at the age of 81.  His voice
is unmistakable in the world of skiing...having provided the quick-witted commentary for all the films he has produced.  He currently spends his winters at the Yellowstone Club where he is the Ambassador of Skiing.  MADE was extremely excited to honor these awardees on October 4, 2007. The award recognizes exemplary entrepreneurs whose professional achievements represent a revolutionary, pioneering impact in their field of endeavor.

Past recipients include: William Allen (former CEO of Boeing Corporation), Liz Claiborne and Art Ortenberg (Founders of Liz Claiborne, Inc.), Thomas Siebel (Founder of Siebel Systems and the Montana Meth Project) and Dennis Washington (Founder of Washington Group International).  Click here for more information about the recipients and the award.
