MG 102
Management & Entrepreneurship Student comments about the course: Kenneth King, 2006: "Thank you for an amazing and rewarding two weeks. I had a lot of fun, met some great people, and acquired some important knowledge." Shantanu Dhaka, 2006: "I had a great time taking the class and your lectures were very interesting and energetic, which is why these two weeks went by so quickly. I am so happy that I finally have to tools to take the next step once I find the right opportunity to pursue." Kenneth Lau, 2006: "I am glad that I took part in the course... I’ve definitely learned a lot over the last two weeks, more then I really expected...Thanks a lot for all that you have taught and shared, I’ve already talked my girlfriend into joining next year's course." Kasedith Vardhanabhuti, 2005: "To be honest, I thought that you were one of the best teachers that I have ever had (and I know that this won't help my grades!!!). During the three weeks, I had learnt so much more than I expected - partly due to your teaching I suspect. I found the topics quite interesting and your teaching style much more captivating than those I have experienced in the past. All in all, I had a great time during those three weeks and I definitely thought that it was worthwhile." Liz Rompella, 2004: "I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for teaching me these past weeks. I learned so much - more than I could have ever imagined! I definitely am interested in eventually starting an entrepreneurial venture of my own - hopefully one dealing with the fashion industry. These past few weeks have been a lot of hard work but such a wonderful experience." Michael Klett: 2003: "I just wanted to thank you for a great time in Entrepreneurship MG 102 this summer! I gained an awful lot of knowledge in your course that I will use for years to come. Putting the mediaHub plan together certainly was challenging, perhaps the biggest challenge being learning how to work with people with different viewpoints on how to get the job done. I'm still kicking around the idea of starting a business similar to the one we presented. You're certainly a credit to your profession and made my experience at LSE that much more enjoyable."
Nick Shalek
2003: I wanted to thank you and let you know how
much I enjoyed the class. I learned a great deal
from the lectures, case studies, and book (I think
the personal MBA is perfect for the course), and
felt that it was all woven together quite
effectively. Whether I end up pursuing
entrepreneurial opportunities myself or, on the
other hand, financing them - both interest me, and I
hopefully will do some of each - I feel confident in
the tools I now have for evaluating the potential of
new and existing businesses. Christine Tan 2003: Upon reflection, the 3 weeks in summer school were the hardest I've ever worked in my life! My friends who stayed with me, commented, "You literally squeezed and milked every penny that you paid. I really like the way you conduct the course: friendly and interactive atmosphere in the classes, yet intensive and challenging outside class as well! You gave us adequate time to interact and form discussions with our team mates and this is the part of summer school which I enjoyed most..." Gernot Bäurle, 2002: "Before your course I had not much clue of how to write a business plan and what to take into account. At the end, I have got a comprehensive picture of how to start a business and valuable advice which subjects I should go into some more detail (e.g. financials) . In only 3 weeks I got a totally new view of how to evaluate a business idea and develop it. In German we would say it was an aha experience, things just fell into place. I learned a lot in your course. After my course in session I on organisation and management which was quite abstract I didn't expect that courses at LSE could be so practical and useful. For me it was the right mix of models/theory and practice. It was a lot of work but the course was well structured so that I could put the theory strait away into practice. I liked the mixture of group and individual assignments. I just imagine how it would have been if my teachers at university would have chosen at least some ideas of your approach to teaching. It would have been more fun, effective, instructive and hands on experience. Thanks a lot for creating such a learning experience!. " Andrea Mueller. 2002: "... I am still enjoying what we learned and experienced with your seminar! It is so motivating when you see what you are dealing with in real life!!!" Vivek Shah, 2001: "I just wanted to thank you for a great experience in London...thank you again for everything you taught us. The class was interesting and I feel a lot more confident about starting a business. I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your teachings. I honestly don't tell many professors this, but you definitely deserve it just because you somehow made your course an entertaining educational experience."
Shauzab Gardezi, 2001: "I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the nice time we spent in London. The course was quite useful but the best part was the open interaction and the way it was delivered."
Rafael de Bustamante Tello, 2001: "First of all, THANK YOU for your teaching. It has been extremely useful & interesting for me. I have worked but also learned a lot. You have been an excellent encouragement for all of us. When talking to some of our mates, we said that it was unbeliable to have caried out our business plans in such a short term." Matthew Hartman, 2002: "I wanted to take this time to thank you for providing your time and energy in the entrepreneurship course. Upon enrolling in the course I knew nothing about entrepreneurship and was very curious about the entailing characteristics of the subject. The course was a pleasant surprise. From learning what a business plan actually was to investigating alternative forms of financing, entrepreneurship finally became tangible."
