Personal Summary

Patricia holds a Graduate Certificate in Technology Commercialization, along with a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Information Technology with a research focus in Cyber Security from the University of Texas, San Antonio, UTSA, which she completed under the National Science Foundation (NSF) grant.  Prio to this, she earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Computer Science from the College of Computing & Information Sciences at Makerere University, one of Africa's oldest and most esteemed institutions https://www.mak.ac.ug/

Patricia's career spanning over a decade in the United States has encompassed great contributions to both the non-profit sector and academia. From 2011 to 2014, she played an integral role in organizations such as Invisible Children, Friends of Refugees and UNHCR. Her transition to academia in 2015 marked a pivotal moment in her career. She does research in Information systems and Cyber Security and teaches classes in these areas. While at UTSA, serving as an academic observer at the European Innovation Academy and co-leading two international immersion trips. These trips, conducted in 2017 and 2018 to Italy, and 2019 and 2020 to Israel, were pivotal experiences focusing on technology and product development, as well as Cyber Security Innovations.

Her primary research focus is on cybersecurity and privacy compliance. Her research portfolio includes cloud-related security issues, privacy compliance, social media analytics for crisis communication, blockchain applications for information integrity, shadow IT security risks, and the Insider Threat. Her work has been published in academic conferences and journals, including the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), Emerging Researchers National (ERN) Conference in STEM, International Journal of Information Management, ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems, and Springer Nature.
