Internship Program


INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  • Required Internship orientation for those students that have not completed their necessary paperwork for Spring 2010 on February 2, 2010 in GBB 122 at 3:30

  • For Spring Interns please note that your completed and signed Learning Agreement along with the required Job Description and Learning Agreement  is due to us by February 24th, 2010.

  • Two times during the semester send a description (3-5 page double-spaced typed business report, left justified) of your activities during the past time period and your goals for the next period.  Due dates for Spring Semester 2010 are March 10th and April 21st.

  • Your grade will be based on the quality of the content as well as the quality of your writing.

  •   No late work will be accepted unless intern has spoken to the director prior to due date

  •  All grading will be on a 100-point scale

o    For papers only the first paper is worth 50 points the second is worth 50 points

o    For papers/project – first paper 25 points, second paper 25 points and project 50 points

·         The +/- grading scale

A    93% and above

B-   80% to 82%

D    60% to 69%
A-   90% to 92% C+  77% to 79% F    59% and below
B+  87% to 89% C    73% to 76%  
B    83% to 86% C-  70% to 72%
  • If taking 4 or more credits, at one time or cumulatively, two reports and a project report are required which you complete for your employer during the internship.

o   At the beginning of your internship discuss with your supervisor what project they want you to complete.

o   The project should be limited in scope and duration and be able to be completed prior to the second due date.

o   If you have already secured a final project, take another internship but change employers, another project and the two regular reports are required.

 

Undergraduate Students:

  • Graduate Students - regardless of the number of credits taken, MUST do a final project in addition to the two monthly reports.  Due date  for Spring 2010 is April 21st.   If you plan to graduate during the semester you take internship credit, you must meet the deadlines of the internship program

  • Reports and final projects can be dropped off in Larae Hackney’s office, GBB 327, emailed to intern@business.umt.edu, faxed to (406) 243-6191 or mailed to Rob Van Driest, School of Business Administration, GBB 328, The University of Montana, Missoula, MT 59812. 

o    If you email your monthly reports/final project, you will receive an email from our office notifying you that your report has been received. 

o    If you do not hear from us within one week from the date you emailed your report, please contact our office to be sure that we did receive it.

  • Contact the director, Rob Van Driest, immediately if you have any problems.  Do not wait until your report is due
