Career Development Program

WHAT STUDENTS, PARENTS, AND FACULTY HAVE TO SAY...

"I wanted to take a minute and write to you in thanks of creating the SoBA Career Development assignments for the business students. It has been a wonderful tool that has enhanced many students' skills for our life after college. I personally am pleasantly surprised at how much the program has already taught me. The resume critique was very useful and I now have a strong resume that I will be proud to show any employer. The mock interview exercise has taught me what it takes to impress an employer as well as what not to do while interviewing. This has been very useful to me and is very much appreciated. I am looking forward to what you have in store next semester!"

Heather Pippin, Junior Marketing ‘08

"I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the work that you do around here. Before you came I hardly knew about career related events. As a student my primary goal is to be employed after I graduate. It is nice to have someone here that makes sure that students know about the employers that are on campus (and specifically the School of Business). I appreciate the active role that you take in the career development of students in the school of business. Thanks Again."

James Dolph, IS ‘07

"This letter is to explain how much the Career Development programs in the business school helped me in my professional development. Not only did these programs help me develop, they gave me a competitive advantage over other candidates. The skills I obtained through these workshops I utilized in real world situations and that gave me the confidence to interact effectively in business situations."

Heath Beck, Accounting ‘08

“I have never been so excited about my career as I am now. Every time I have a free minute, all I am doing is just looking for different companies online, applying, and working on my resume and cover letter. Today I even went to Cheryl with a draft of Cold Letter. And it is all because of you. You motivated and inspired me. Thank you so much!”

Ashot Oganeysan, MBA ‘09

“The efforts of the SoBA administrators and educators have provided me with opportunities to grow. I am proud of the change that it has created in my life and the lives of my peers. SoBA furnishes the tools necessary to build foundations of personal and professional efficacy.”

Shivon White, Marketing & Management ‘09

“I got the job! I'm very excited. I wanted to let you know and also to say thank you. Had it not been for all of
you and your staff's work with mock interviews, resume critiques, and career
development activities, I probably wouldn't have this job or the offers that I
had before it. Thank you for everything Janel.”

John De Groot, Finance ‘08

“My son Chris has been going through your process and was flown to Billings today for a 2nd interview with KPMG. With other interviews in hand he is very pumped and has been VERY prepared. Thanks to you!”

Craig K. Anderson, SoBA Alumnus,

First Vice President Wealth Management Advisor, Merrill Lynch

“Just wanted to extend my gratitude for your continued work with students. I truly appreciate all the effort that you put in to get students started on the path to success. Networking was the entire reason I received the Montana Neuroscience job and the HR position. Networking was my greatest asset to getting this position.”

Molly Abel, Management ‘09

"Without a doubt, the tools you are providing our students for their career development are on-target. I am seeing this on a daily basis just in my short time so far at KPMG. Technical skills are obviously important, but so are networking, personal presentation (in all its forms), and representing the firm in a professional manner. The list goes on and on. Today during the first session for new audit hires, we covered the importance of these issues. I wrote a note to myself that you needed to hear how relevant your work is in the business school."

Barbara Reider, Accounting Faculty – while on sabbatical working at KPMG
