PROFILE:
Tim Manuel holds a Ph.D. in Business from the
University
of South Carolina
and MBA and BS degrees from Virginia Tech. His areas of expertise
include asymmetric information, announcement effects, capital
structure, dividend policy, international finance and ethics.
His teaching interests
include markets and institutions, derivative securities, valuation,
international finance, ethics and investments.
Dr. Manuel has been recognized with numerous teaching awards
over the years for excellence in the classroom; most recently he
received the 2006-07 Outstanding Faculty Award from Beta Alpha Psi.
For the last two years Dr.
Manuel has also engaged in executive education training at the
University.
Dr. Manuel’s academic work has been
published in some of the leading business journals in the country
including the Journal of
Business, Journal of
Financial Economics,
Journal of Financial Research and others. He has also authored
several textbook supplements in both markets and investments and
regularly engages in consulting work with textbook publishers.
Dr. Manuel has frequently served as the Chair of the Faculty
Evaluation Committee for the Accounting and Finance Department and
has led several national searches to hire finance faculty.
He currently serves on the
School of Business Administration (SOBA) Undergraduate Assessment
Committee and the SOBA Scholarship Committee.
He has also participated on many University committees
including ASCRC, Faculty Senate, Unit Standards, General Education
and Faculty Development.
