PROFILE:
Dr. Erb received
his Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University. Much of his career
was devoted to public service including at the Board of Governors of
the Federal Reserve, the US Treasury Department and the
International Monetary Fund (IMF). At the IMF, Dr. Erb served as
Deputy Managing Director, the number two position, from 1984 to
1994. Earlier in his career he worked in the private sector at
Arthur D. Little and Salomon Brothers. He periodically taught at
the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
Dr. Erb brings to
the university first hand knowledge of the world economy and the
practical experience of managing a large multilateral financial
institution with a highly professional and multicultural staff. He
has taught senior/graduate level seminars on the international
financial system and the European Union and also serves as a thesis
advisor to graduate and undergraduate students. He enjoys advising
and assisting students with respect to career opportunities.
He frequently is
invited to give lectures on economic and financial subjects. He
also conducts special seminars for foreign visitors on “The
Challenges of Managing a Business in a Transition Economy.” The
latter subject draws on his post IMF work with young companies in
central Europe.
During the course
of his career Dr. Erb published extensively on a wide range of
economic and public policy subjects. His current research focuses
on: the European Union; the treatment of reserve assets and
liabilities in the balance of payments accounts; the governance and
management of multilateral financial institutions; and the
constitutional prerequisites for a stable political, economic and
business environment.
Dr. Erb and his
wife live on a farm in the beautiful and secluded Moiese Valley
where they raise alfalfa and grass hay. He also is a member of the
Charlo/Moiese Volunteer Fire Department and is a qualified EMS first
responder. |
