The Deborah Doyle McWhinney Faculty Fellow

Bambi joined the School of Business Administration in 2003 after completing her Ph.D. in Management at The University of Arizona. Before enduring the Arizona heat, Bambi spent time at Idaho State University where she earned her B.B.A. in Marketing, her M.P.E in Athletic Administration, and her M.B.A. She was an Admissions Counselor and Academic Advisor at ISU for some time and also worked as the Assistant Director for the First Security State Games of Idaho before returning to academia.

Bambi teaches several different courses for SOBA, including Leadership & Motivation and Management & Organizational Behavior (both undergraduate and graduate levels). Bambi has been honored as the 2003-2004 Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Faculty Member in Management and Marketing, the 2005-2006 Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Faculty Member in Management, and the UM Mortar Board Chapter Professor of the Year for 2005-2006. She has served as the Faculty Advisor for the undergraduate Management and Human Resources Student Group (MHR) and currently serves as the Faculty Advisor for the Graduate Business Students Association (GBSA). July 2007 marked the beginning of Bambi's duties as MBA Director.

Bambi's main research interests include social networks and the role networks play in people's ability to capitalize on opportunities (especially the role of negative networks), and a variety of gender issues, including gender discrimination, sexual harassment, gender equity, sex-role stereotyping, and gender differences in social networks. Her work has been published in the Academy of Management Journal and Law and Human Behavior. She also enjoys studying organizations and writing case studies. She is actively involved in the Western Academy of Management (2-yr representative), the Western Casewriters Association, and the North American Case Research Association (Newsletter Editor and Vice President of Membership).

When Bambi is not in her office, you may find her playing or coaching basketball, enjoying the outdoors, or hanging out with Troy, Bari, Cooper, and two dogs Coco and Shadow.
