PREPARATION FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION:
 

1.  Write a 400-600 word essay for the following essay questions.  Save on a disk.

• Essay 1: REQUIRED
  What have you done proactively in your academic career or life to make you the most deserving candidate for this scholarship and how would this scholarship assist you in your educational and career goals?   
  Who should prepare this essay?  All business scholarship applicants.
  What scholarship is this for?  This essay applies to all SoBA scholarships

2.  Write a few sentences for the following short answer questions.  Save on a disk.

• Describe what you imagine your ideal career would be.
  You can expand on this topic in the first essay if you need more than a few sentences.  Use complete sentences but keep your answer brief.

• What led you to choose your option(s)?  OR What is it about your options that you find most interesting?
  You can expand on this topic in the first essay if you need more than a few sentences.  Use complete sentences but keep your answer brief.

• In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a successful business and a successful employee?
  Use complete sentences but keep your answer brief.

3.  [OPTIONAL] A small number of scholarships are for those in financial need.  If you would like to complete the Financial Need section, you will want your 2007 tax information or an estimate of your 2008 taxes.  You may also need your parent's tax information if you are under 24 years old.  Generally speaking, those students who are eligible for financial aid are eligible for financial need scholarships.  Tax information needed:  Adjusted gross income, tax form used, tax paid, child support, worker's compensation, etc.

4.  It is extremely important that your area of interest submitted in your online application matches the area of interest on record at the Registrar's office.  This information is checked in February 2009 for current students and again in August 2009 for all students. 
Undergrad Business pre-2008 catalog: 
Your option area is your area of interest.  This will be Accounting, Financial Management, Information Systems, International Business, Management or Marketing.
Undergrad Business 2008 catalog or later: 
Your intended specialty major is your area of interest.  This will be Accounting, Financial Management, Information Systems, International Business, Management or Marketing.  If you have not yet declared a specialty major, you may list your intended specialty major.
Graduate Students:  
Your major (MBA or MAcct) is your area of interest.  If you are a prospective graduate student, list the program you are applying for.
